Quite simply this small USB device plugs into the USB port of your laptop or PC and acts as a soundcard, meaning that if your soundcard doesn't work or you don't have one you can enjoy sound once again. It has the added benefit of 'virtual' 5.1 sound, so when you plug in your speakers via the 3.5mm jack, the output stream to the speakers will be in a 5.1 effect, giving you the impression of 5.1 sound. There is also a microphone input so that you can record as well on to the laptop.
